Round 1

Title

This week **cough cough, a few weeks back** the 'Cats played host again at Mohawk Park, this time taking on the High Park Demons.
While still looking for their first win on the hallow turf of Mohawk, the Wildcats were now clutching at straws to make the finals, and playing lower place Demons this was their first hurdle to overcome the “disappointing year” tag that so many around the OAFL have given the Wildcats.
The first quarter was a ripper. The 'Cats got off to the start they were after, an absolute flyer, kicking 5 goals to nothing in the first term. The ball was moved well out of the centre, with one Daniel “C#$T” Crouch finding the ball well off the half forward line but struggled hitting the majors early with a few shanks. The 'Cats showed amazing speed against a soft Demon outfit, and proved their worth by the bell of the first siren. But alas, the Wildcats can’t play 4 full quarters of football… By half time the Hamilton large lead was not expanded but instead dwindled, with the Demons only being 2 kicks away from hitting the lead.
With something to prove, and after a good dressing down by Coach “My head is going to explode” Johns, the Wildcats came out firing. The 3rd term the 'Cats absolutely annihilated the Demons thanks to some great work out of the centre by Settle and Hilly, and Crouchy finding a bundle of the ball ending the game with a game high 7 goals, and also claiming himself his first BOG mug in his 1 and a ½ year career with the Wildcats. Time after time Hilly worked his nuts off belting the ball out from the bounce downs before suffering a near fatal knee injury that saw him off the ground for the rest of the match but also saw him winning his first hardhat for the year.
The final scoreline was definitely an indication as to where this club is heading for the rest of the year, and was by far their most consistent performance to date.
This weekend the Cats head up to Humber North to take on the "aren’t as good as they think they are” Hawks and are eyeing off another win. Make sure you get up and support the boys. Games on @ 3pm.
