In 2006 the chunky 117 Kilo Newfoundland native waddled his way in a fitness gym where he met Hamilton Wildcat President Charles Thompson, after a few months of gym time Charles convinced the Newfie to come out to a home game and see what the sport is all about. So he dragged his carcass down to Mohawk Sport complex and watched the 'Cats pounce on the Demons; he decided then and there that this was sport he would like. Two weeks later tagging along with Chuck he found his way to Humber North to watch a second game where someone threw a jumper and said we're short players so go play in the pocket and listen to Chuck "Speckie" Thompson and Shane "Snowman" Davies. After asking Chuck how to play he was more confused than ever but the 'Cats came out on top and Terry was hooked.
In his rookie year he posted only 5 games due to getting married and trying to convince his new wife to let him play but "Brakes" as Chucky called him managed to acquire a hard hat for efforts. In 2007 after spending more time at the gym and practice field the sport of aussie rules slowly became clearer and coach Justin "Pretzyl" Johns had faith in the newfie pairing him up late in the season with Luke Main for some complete games thus causing his epiphany. After closing the 2007 with a goal another Hard Hat and the Coaches award for his efforts "pretzyl" took him aside and said "If you bulk up a little and increase your running ability I'd reckon you do good in this game".
In 2008 after a long winter in the gym and a really bad joke to "pretzyl" the "Aboo" (pronounced A-BOO) was born, he started the season in the back line with the likes of rookie Kris "killer" McKillop and Greg "plugger" Young was moved to the forward pocket by the coach and finished the season in the forward flank position. After playing the first 4 games with broken ribs the "aboo" came alive in round 10 vs. the Swans collecting the coveted Shred-Tech B.O.G. mug for his efforts and finishing the '08 season with goal, mug and an Iron Man award.
