Kiel first heard about footy from his older brother Kris "Killer" McKillop. Having interest in how the sport was played he decided to head to Mohawk Sports Complex on a saturday afternoon. After watching a game, he thought he should give the sport a shot and asked killer about joining. His older brother invited him down to training one night so he could meet the team. The Wildcats turned out to be a great group of guys willing to help a rookie who joined half way through the season thus limiting his first year to just seven games. Kiel's first year was about learning the basics like marking and handballing, because the tackling he has down after the colossal hammer throw to the Roos where he sent the poor boy to see the daisys from the under side.
